The name UF Health represents the combined resources of the University of Florida Health Science Center and Shands health care system. It stands for the shared professional expertise and personal commitment of our 22,000-plus faculty and staff who work daily to improve quality of life and achieve outstanding outcomes for our patients and communities. And it encompasses our world-class patient care, research and education programs throughout Gainesville and Jacksonville.
This change comes as we mark the three-year anniversary of the Forward Together joint strategic plan, when our UF and Shands teams began working together under a common vision with shared goals. As we mark this milestone, we are more unified and have proved that together we form a stronger, more robust academic health center.
“All our decisions will be based on the overriding principle of what is best for the patient, and this principle will guide our research, teaching and clinical programs,” said Dr. David S. Guzick, senior vice president for health affairs and president of the UF&Shands Health System.
